When should I book my flight to Las Vegas?
I’m going to Vegas, flying out from Indianapolis Sunday August 2, and coming back to Indianapolis Thursday August 6.
Hotel and shows are all booked so I am locked into above dates.
Airline prices seems much higher with bad times on arrivals and departures right now, compared to last October when I went to Las Vegas.
Should I book the flight now or wait and keep checking daily for superior rates?

Or at least the ones I know of anyway! I am organising a holiday for a bunch of friends later this year and flights are all predictably expensive. We do not mind 3rd rate travel, but we obviously need to fly! Any secrets?

Why are flights to Vegas so costly right now?
Everyone keeps telling me(including travel books) that flights to Vegas aren’t supposed to be that expensive. So how com ethey’re running around 0 p/p, r/t from Boston now? Less than a month ago a friend got the same tickets for 0(I know prices can and do change, but this seems ridiculous). Anyone I speak to who’s gone to Vegas lately states the prices are way out of control. Any ideas why?
I’m actually looking for tickets for Sept, flying out on a Monday and back on a Thursday. It sucks, with prices this high, we cannot afford to go.
I’ve checked all sites(travelocity, expedia, orbitz) as well as directly checking airline sites. Oh well.

Are there any cheap direct flights to Vegas from Illinois?
I live in Champaign and love going to Vegas. I have flown out of Peoria on Allegiant a few times. It’s priced at about 340 round trip. It’s direct and there is free parking, which is nice. Fares on Southwest and AirTran out of Chicago/Bloomington are comparable but parking is not free. Is there a superior option anywhere near central Illinois? I am willing to head to southern IL or to Indiana, if needed.
