Question by otto_rax:
Are complimentary Vegas vacations a scam or legit?
I see commercials with TV has-beens like Alan Thicke and Midge from that 70′s Show advertising free trips to vegas and accomodations on the strip. Whats the catch? is it a time share sales pitch deal or what? some one give me the scoop

You really have to be careful and do lots of research.
Check with other travel agents who are not associated with the vacation.
Run Google searches on the companies.
Watch for lots of company names involved in the same pitch or in their contracts.
There are some DOOZIE scams out there. But I also know that there are some real deals. The key is figuring out which is which.

It is probably a timeshare sale. They are advertised to all types of locations. My husband and I go to them often. If you have the ability to say No. It is usually a good deal for a couple hours of your time.

It is a VERY very high sales pitch for timeshares, and you have to follow their time schedule. Recently a friend’s relative did one for two free nights but the first was the night they arrived and the second day half was taken by the three hour plus sales pitches and visits to various properties.
I would rather pay my own way and be in total control.

That particular one is one of the biggest rip offs. You see him standing in a pool talking to you … for some reason you assume that that pool is on the property but in fact .. it doesn’t have a pool. If you want to swim you will be shuttled to one of the pools on the strip. The location of this timeshare sucks big time .. in the middle of nowhere. The accomodations are not at the property but a small motel close to it. The free meals are at Denny’s which is on the property and the free show is one of the cheapest ones in the valley. You can usually find free tickets for that show everywhere. Be prepared to spend at least four hours of high pressured sales pitch for an over priced unit.
You can hear everyone who got suckered in talking about it when walking around the strip.
