Try to look on some sites and compare prices. It’s usually the only way, unfortunately.

Here’s a website I use when traveling to Vegas on business. Sometimes I’ve scored really nice hotels at great prices!

Smart person, you don’t spend time in room. But watch the area of town you sleep. Try http://www.lasvegasnow.com for links.
Check out prices at Circus Circus Manor (their motel next to casino hotel), Gold Coast just west of Caesars Palace, off the Strip but across street from Palms and Rio. BTW cheapest room rates are Sun thru Thurs nights, no holidays or big conventions in town.

Circus Circus Manor is not recommended, I stayed there and it smells of mold and is dirty…..the rooms are $89 per night………….

ok, i don’t stay on the strip…we like it downtown on Fremont street, and might go to the strip one day while in vegas…..but for the best hotel prices, try this web site.
i4vegas.com
I have found the hotel prices very hard to beat! They have quite a few on and off strip also. My best friend and I are flying in from El Paso May 12th and are staying at the Plaza downtown ……we go in the middle of the week because it is cheaper, and we can stay longer….Base Price…$33 a night!
split 2 ways…with taxes we are each paying $75 and cents for our 4 nights! now, you might read some bad reviews about this hotel…but although dated, I have stayed there before, and had a perfectly wonderful stay….well, try i4vegas.com and hopefully you will find a deal like we did…and believe me I searched a lot before booking! good luck and have a great trip!

Try the hotel websites directly.
Rooms for under $50 can be had on the strip at the Tropicana. I stay here. It is dated but clean and is vintage Vegas at it’s best.
The Orleans has $30 special going on right now. They aren’t on strip but offer a free shuttle to strip. They look to have very nice rooms!

Once in Vegas we decided at last minute to stay an extra night and the cheapest thing we could find was the “Blair House Suites” I dont remember exactly the road, but it was only about a block from the strip, Im thinking it was the road near Ballys (?) it was like $70 a night and turned out being a really decent place. suprisingly large with a separate bedroom with 2 big beds, and a kitchen and living area. Of course we weren’t there long enough to use it all, but it seemed like a little apartment. Kinda wished we had found this one at first, because the Tuscany where we stayed at first was a bit pricey

you could try hooters, might be a bit over $50, but better than circus circus manor.
Also, the cr@p-o-sphere, sorry stratesphere is usually cheap, but prepare to pay for the cab rides to anywhere meaningful.

I’d suggest the Imperial Palace & sometimes the Stratosphere has that price but it’s just a matter or looking. I’m sure you can find good deals. Just keep looking around because you’ll never know! Go to the hotel sites and find some info.

Mid-Strip, try Casino Royal or Imperial Palace. If you want to stay South Strip, try Tropicana. North Strip, try Circus Circus, Riviera, Sahara or Stratosphere. Downtown, try Vegas Club, California, Freemont, or El Cortez.

During my last trip I came across a website called
http://hotels.klikgue.com/City/Las_Vegas_Nevada.htm
It has quite a large variety of hotels. You might wanna give it a try.

Vegas is crazy because sometimes you can get crazy cheap deals because they just want you to gamble your money. Somebody else may be able to put the name of a site here that tells you the latest insane rates but otherwise I suggest you google if you want to find deals like that.
Otherwise, search here and you will find a cheap deal:

If you want to stay on the strip, I would recommend the flamingo. Its right in the middle of the strip, and the amazing pool makes up for the okay hotel rooms. I once stayed there for $55 a night, a LOT cheaper compared to others.
If you want to stay off the strip, try the Fiesta in Henderson, there are usually reasonable rates.
