Just trying to find a casino that actually gives fair comps. We went to Imperial recently, we played quite a bit (not highrollers) but decent enough, and the 4 of us total got maybe $15 comps. It was sad. Years past we’d eat + stay for free no problem, then everything changed. Just looking for our next casino to go to, next time we go out, because Imperial is out.

Business has been terrible for the Las Vegas casinos recently and I suspect that casinos may have cut back on their comps.
If you don’t already know it how much you get in comps depends on how much you bet as well as which game you’re playing. The faster you’re expected to lose the bigger the comps. You can ask the casino host their policy on comps as a percentage of your average bet per hour. The larger the house advantage and the faster the game the faster comps build up. In addition there are a number of books and articles with tips about how to maximize your comps at any casino. For example, get a large number of chips when you sit in. Give the dealer a hundred dollar bill even if you don’t intend to bet heavily. It’s better than a $20 every time you’re running low on chips. When the pit boss is watching your table, bet a larger amount. Double your bet for a couple of minutes and then drop back, you’ll double your comps.
Personally I usually stay at the Sahara for reasons other than their comp policy. I like the convenient parking garage (a short walk), the ease of getting in and out (less traffic at that end of the strip), and the fact that the casino is relatively small which makes it easy to find your friends. I have no complaints about their comps. As one of the lower priced hotels their table minimums are lower so you can gamble for quite a while without losing too much money, and I am satisfied with their comps. It is getting a bit shabby. They were going to redo the rooms plus add another tower or two but that has been put on hold because of the economy.
I’ve never stayed at the Imperial so I can’t compare.

You would probably do better downtown-the strip hotels are geared toward the bigger player. Better to not worry about comps anyway-it usually just means that you are losing, and they are trying to make you feel like you are getting something for free.
