I am going to Vegas next month for my birthday and wanted to know if anyone had any tips or solutions to doing the vacation cheaply or inexpensively? We already have rooms, I am talking about food and entertainment. I have been to Vegas many times before, but never on a budget. Thanks!

Pick up the free Vegas magazines and look for coupons. They often have coupons for reduced price or buy one/get one on shows. Mac King is a daytime show at Harrah’s that is good and inexpensive. There are 2 half-price ticket outlets on the strip (by MGM Grand and one at the other end, near the Riviera I think), but you are limited as to what shows are available that day.
As for food, there are a number of cheap buffets still around, the $4.95 steak special at Ellis Island (behind the Flamingo), lots of late night coffee shop specials and pleanty of fast food/deli options everywhere.

My favorite site for Vegas on a budget is http://www.cheapovegas.com . Irreverant humor and great advice.

Since Corporate America has taken over Vegas they have gotten rid of all the good deals in town. Cheap buffets, free shows, comped rooms used to be there way to get people into the casino to gamble. Now they figure that everyone is gonna enjoy those things anyway because they have all become famous in there on way. Over night the buffets went to $20+, shows are $100+ and room prices are going thru the roof and rarely comped now. Sniffing out the deals is harder then ever. Your best bet is to hit up downtown or local’s casinos. They are the only ones that are keepin’ it real.
Here are a few things you can’t miss:
99¢ shrimp cocktails at Golden Gate Hotel
Fiesta Buffet at any (Off Strip) Stations Casino
Circus Circus Steakhouse (Even with all the high-end Mega Resort steakhouses that are popping up, Circus still has the cheapest and best tasting)
$1 Footlong Hotdogs at Riviera
Late night coffee shops at El Cortez, Barbary Coast, Binions & Arizona Charlies are still the best around. AC’s still has 7 items after midnight for 77¢ each!
Lowest limit gambling is The Western, El Cortez, Casino Royale & Wild Wild West.
Also, if your gambling the drinks are free all night, but if your not there are still 2 places on the Strip with $1 & $2 drinks – Casino Royale or O’sheas is the place to be!
Good Luck & have fun!

Stay away from all the big casinos.
Stick with the smaller and older ones.
The new huge mega-flash, ultra-glitz casinos didn’t get that way by offering $1.99 Shrimp Cocktails.
Think about it.
