depends on how long you plan to be there and what you want to do while there.
If you want to do a lot of sight seeing in the surrounding areas, then rent a car.
If you just want to go from casino to casino, then the shuttles will do fine, and most are free.

Generally if you’re going to stay on the strip or downtown(Fremont Street) you really don’t need a car.
Las Vegas – public transportation

You have your option of the Deuce/CAT bus, the Monorail, The Strip Trolley(Arrow) and in some cases free hotel shuttles.

I would say rent a Car. Shuttles are good too.

Renting a car is sooo much better. You can access everything, the canyons, off strip locations, etc without having to wait. Trust me. Enjoy your stay.

Traffic is just insane in Las Vegas- I’d do anything to avoid driving in that city. Try shuttles or the monorail.
Whatever you do, do not take a taxi. They’re outrageous.

i went last weekend and rented a car…i used ACE rental car and my car was $10 a day…it more than paid for itself compared to using taxis even if you dont use it that much…the roads there are aweful though but you’ll be fine…BUT only get a car if you plan on exploring, if you’re just visiting the strip you should be OK without one

I live here now but when I was considering a move and would come a few times a year, always rented a car. You have convenience and freedom. You can also see things that cannont be seen on a bus. You can get items cheaper as you go out into the neighborhoods.

Valet parking is free at all the casinos in Vegas. Choose a designated driver if you are drinking. Get a car and enjoy the freedom.

If you want to stay on the strip then i would for sure not rent a car. It will take you forever to get down the strip especially at night. The tram is great but it is not free. It goes from MGM to Sahara. You can get day passes for this.

it depends…if you want to pick girls up you should rent a car =)…joking a side if you rent a car you must rent a very beatiful and expansive cars…cause in vegas there are mostly Ferrari Cadillac and porsche….if you dont want to spend more money…use taxis and shuttles…they are not expansive…bye bye and remenber “what appen in Vegas remain in Vegas” =)

If you’re generally going to be staying on the Strip or Downtown and just plan to hotel-hop, skip the rental car. The Deuce bus stops at all the major hotels. It’s easiest to walk to most of them anyway, and cabs are everywhere. Traffic is a pain in the you know what, especially on the weekends and most evenings, and always sucks on the Strip.
On the flip side – if you’re staying with a friend or family or plan to do visiting like that or out of town excursions, then rent the car.

Rent a car, much better. The bus/shuttle system is okay but it’s not great. If you have a bicycle, most buses have bike racks attached to the front of the bus, so you could do a combo ride (part bus, part bicycle). But be careful because drivers in vegas are not very cyclist friendly. There just are not too many of us in town, although numbers do seem to be increasing but not very many people are used to it yet.
If you’re going to the strip, a car is best in my opinion but a bike is also useful, avoid biking in the summer though (110+ degrees), better to have a/c.
