I am trying to find the best way to cheaply get around the strip. Renting a car is cheaper than cabs. I was wondering if I was staying at a hotel on one end of the stip, could I park for free at a hotel on the other end of the strip?

Parking is free at all hotels on the strip and you don’t need to be a guest to use the parking facilities. I will not recommend renting a car unless you plan to take a trip out of town. There are lots of ways to get around. Here are a few of them. http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/get-around.php
I will recommend taking the deuce to get around. Get a 24 hr pass for $7 and that will take care of your transportation needs for the day.

Parking is free at all Strip Hotels and Valets work for tips.
A word is in order regarding renting cars in Las Vegas. I do this all the time so I know what I am talking about. Few people are aware that the fee quoted by rental agencies is about half of what you will actually pay. There are a bevy of taxes and fees imposed by the City, County and State.
Another consideration is insurance coverage. Make sure your own auto insurance includes comprehensive coverage and will insure you for rentals. Simple liability insurance is not adequate. Most importantly, few people realize that Nevada State Law allows rental agencies to charge you the daily rental fee for the entire time one of their cars is in for damage repair. In other words, if you rent a car and you have a accident (whether it is your fault or not) and the care will take two weeks to fix, you will be billed for an additional two weeks. This includes vandalism and theft as well.
There is additional insurance coverage for this that the rental agencies offer (Collision Damage Waiver, or CDW) but it is expensive, nearly the same as the initial rental fee. To my knowledge, the only credit card company that will attempt to fight this for you is VISA. So, I never take the special coverage but always use my VISA to rent a car in Vegas.
I just make sure I am prepared to pay the cost if the worst happens and take the gamble. Hey, this is Vegas, you know?
The only car rental agency that truly gives you most of the fees and taxes in their quote is Hertz. So, shop for a rental deal and note how much more Hertz is than the rest, you will get my point. But even they do not include the additional cost of insurance.

Do the Deuce. As the other person said, $7 gets you around for 24hrs. If you buy it at 11:01, it will expire the next day at 11:01. Traffic is a nightmare, and it’s not always easy to get in and out of the Strip. Also, the parking facilities for many are behind the hotel so you would have to walk a very long way just to get to the Strip in the first place.
Stay away from cabs if at all possible. The only time a car rental is worth it is if you are going far away from the Strip. Most of the other hotels (Palm, the Rio, Fremont St) are accessible by the Deuce as well, or a free shuttle, so it’s not needed for that.

Most hotels have large self-parking lots that are absolutely free. Another plus, found at most hotels is free valet service. It is very convenient and all you need to do is step out of your car and into the casino. On your way out of the casino you hand them your ticket and they grab your car for you. You tip the attendant a dollar or two and you are off. This saves you the usual long walk to the parking lot.

There is free regular parking for anyone who comes into the casino/hotel or you can use the valet but tip $2 when you pick up your car
The casino wants everyone to come play and have fun, dine and enjoy a show, not just those staying at their hotel
