I’m going to Vegas for a vacation in July.
I want to stay on the strip. I want at least a 500 square feet room.
I was thinking of staying at the Venetian, which has a 750 square feet suite.
I want to be economical but want a good, large room.
Any other ideas?

Call Caesars Hotel and Casino, Vegas. They’re probably on the internet too. speak to a reservation specialist. Tell them how long you’re staying. And especially tell them that you are going there to gamble. They have all kinds of special deals. A while ago, I guaranteed them that I would gamble $3,000.00 in their casino. They gave me the room (5days) for free. Got a free breakfast and free dinner every night. Used the $3,000.00 for gambling every night (and saw some good shows too). Went home with $2,400.00. So the week only cost (in losses) $600. Good deal.

Everyone has their own idea of what economical means. But I would not consider the Venetian to be economical in the least! It is an expensive hotel. Yes you get a lot but you also pay a lot. They are 650 sq ft rooms that are absolutely beautiful! But you can have a nice large room without that big price tag.
Bally’s offers a lot of bang for the buck. It was the old MGM Grand. The rooms are the most spacious for the star rating and that price range. They are 500 sq ft. The back tower is slightly nicer. You get quality and and good price at Bally’s.
Also the Rio is an all suite property like Venetian but the prices are usually lower because it is behind the strip, near the Palms. But it offers big rooms, a hip casino, and floor to ceiling and wall to wall windows with a view that can’t be beat!
The grand tower of the MGM Grand boasts bigger than average rooms at a fair price. I have nothing negative to say about the rooms here! They are fabulous!
Mandalay Bay has a minium of 550 sq ft. The rooms are plush and large. The standard here is better than most hotels suites! And while it is at one end of the strip, at least it’s the good end and it offers a free (effient) tram to Luxor and Excalibur.
Monte Carlo has amazing offers right now! The rooms are larger than what you would expect for the price. And they have a lavish feel to them. It’s not a gody hotel that some people expect in las vegas. It’s elegant and plain. The pool is amazing! There is construction next door but it didn’t bother me when I stayed there April 2009.
If you look up cheapovegas.com and click on the hotel you are interested in then you can find the exact sq footage of that hotel and the typical rates. That tool may help you locate your info quickly.

Im also going in july and staying at the paris which is in the center of the strip across from bellagio. I am paying an average of $80 a night for 4 nights and am arriving on july 4th. Paris, luxor, monte carlo are probably the nicest ones for under $100 per week night. Ceasers palace, mandalay bay, bellagio, mgm for $100-$150 per week night, but will be nicer of course.

If being economical is the most important thing, Imperial Palace or the Flamingo are probably your best bet. They’re inexpensive and centrally located.
