In my experience you get the best price if you book air and hotel seperately. For air I would use a flight search engine like kayak.com and for hotel rooms I recommend to check the current hotel promotion codes in order to get good room rates. http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com has the latest promotion codes available.

try allegiantair.com. we flew with them last year for about 450 including hotel.

I have had the best luck booking my air through either http://www.southwest.com/, http://www.airtran.com/Home.aspx, or http://www.delta.com/ It depends on where you live, but I can usually find rates from $99 each way on these airlines from the midwest.
For hotels, definitely find the best rates at this website http://smartervegas.com/ The hotels send out all kinds of promotions every day for great rates on hotel stays, usually in emails or on their website, but smartervegas.com puts them all on a list for everyone to have access to, and when you find a deal you are interested in, you click on the link and it takes you directly to the hotel website.
Excalibur is a decent hotel, with cheap rates, and is in a great location on the strip, right across from MGM Grand. They have recently been running specials from $22/night, but a standard special would be around $40/night. Weekends are much higher in any hotel, though.
Good luck!

I’m in Vegas Super Bowl weekend (actually the 4th through the 9th) and I got airfare and hotel for $486. I’m staying at Excalibur. I got it through Expedia. It’s like $97 a night. Can’t beat that unless you want to stay at a 1 star motel to save money.

You must be careful of low key sites. Even take a well known site like Travelworm who went bankrupt leaving people empty handed. They had negotiated separate hotel rates by buying blocks of rooms at low prices and then reselling them. Unfortunately they didn’t pay for the rooms but continued to collect booking fees. You must be careful at this time. Stick with well established sites. You will not get discounted airfare no matter what site you go on. The only hope is the hotel rooms. Go directly to the airline website for the best selection of flights. Then look at hotel rooms separately. You may get lucky and find that hard to find deal but you see everyone books through the same wholesaler. Might want to read this webpage of how to search for the best price, shows how to compare them.

The best way to get a great deal is to book them separately. For flights, check sites like Southwest airlines or US Airways. Also do a search on kayak engine. It will check all airlines going to Vegas and all major travel sites and return the cheapest fare. http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/cheap-flights.php
For hotels, book directly from the hotels using their discount promo codes to get the maximum discounts. Here are a few codes.

Try Southwest Airlines or MidWest or Alaska, all who have combination deals
