I am going to Vegas at the end of October and would really like to stay close to the strip ( would love to live ON the strip). I have heard a lot about new construction and would not like to get in the middle of it. So i am looking for a hotel, with an average price on the strip thats alright.

If you are looking for a home away from home, try the Emerald Suites. All rooms have living room, seperate bedroom, free high speed internet and full kitchen. Located 4 miles south of the Mandalay Bay – minutes from all the strip action. Also free airport shuttle and shuttle service to Mandalay Bay. Be careful of cheap strip hotel rates. Although the initial room rate is cheap, the “resort fees” can really add up.

An inexpensive hotel real close to the strip is Hooters. A great value and it is just as far to walk to the strip as staying at the MGM Grand. On the Strip Excalibur has some deals. If going on a weekend you will pay full price for rooms and not find any discounts.

Check rates at the Monte Carlo, Excalibur, Imperial Palace and MGM Grand. Here are a few discount codes.

On a weekday you can almost always find a reasonable priced hotel on the strip. There are literally tens of thousands of empty rooms on weekdays, and most places want to fill them.

If you get stuck, try the two hotels in the source. They are next to each other and a few long walking blocks from the strip. The platinum is a high-rise, (one of the few in Vegas with a balcony), and Tuscany is a low rise.

MGM Grand, Excalibur and Monte Carlo e.g. are fine hotels with good offers. The best is to book with a promotion code in order to get the best price. Check http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com for the latest codes.

Okay….here you go…
Average Price Hotels “ON” the strip AND without construction next door:
Harrah’s, It’s across from Treasure Island, Mirage & Caesar’s Palace…
Imperial Palace, next door to Harrah’s and owned by Harrah’s now…
Planet Hollywood, between MGM and Bellagio on the opp. side of street…
Luxor, It’s between Mandalay Bay/Excaliber hotels and diag from MGM…
Excaliber…probably more “budget” than even Luxor and next door to it… (Tram connects Mandalay-Luxor-Excaliber)
New York New York, Directly accross from MGM and Excaliber (3 corners out of 4)…
Each of these hotels are ‘respectible’ and are ON the strip…have good neighbor hotel/casinos and will plant you within reasonable walking distance with others. If I was on a budget and was in my early 20′s…I’d probably stay at Harrah’s, Luxor or Imperial Palace.
You won’t be driving much in Vegas usually…most people walk around so they can see everything….but the construction in right in the CENTER of the strip…other than blocking up one of the busiest intersections in the world…from a distance the buildings are actually lookinig good as ‘scenery’ already…so a Strip View wouldn’t be bad at all.
***Shop http://www.Vegas.com for an idea of room rates…and then check the individual hotel websites for “special web only rates” at the hotels you are interested in and see which is best for your dates. You may still be able to get some really good deals at some of the nicer “status” properties…MGM, Caesars’, Bellagio, Wynn/Encore or Venetian/Palazzo.
OH..and Paris well located and may have soom good bargains too.

The Sahara and the Stratosphere are on the far end of the strip and inexpensive.

I’ve recently seen rates as low as $39 a night at both Luxor and Monte Carlo, which are both nice places on the strip. You can also find good rates at Excalibur, MGM, and Flamingo, which are all nice hotels.

You will not be bothered by the construction so dont worry about it. Try Excalibur or Tropicana.
Otherwise, Orleans, Southpoint or Gold Coast

We have always like staying at Imperial Palace due to its central location and cheap rates. I know some on this forum don’t recommend IP, but I’ve always found the rooms to be clean and I love the fact they are the only hotel I’m aware on the strip with balconies for most rooms. I spend very little time in my room and don’t mind paying less and having a bathroom that’s not super big or has fancy tile, and I don’t need a plasma TV as we welcome turn it on the room. The furnishings are dated, but the price is right. We stayed in May and our cost was $15 per night during the week with our Total Rewards card.

You should stay right on the Strip as close as possible to the center of the Strip or at least the Southern end of the Strip. These hotels will be your best value (by value I mean location + quality + price.):
Planet Hollywood
Paris
Bally’s
Harrah’s
Mirage
Treasure Island
Monte Carlo
New york-New York
Any of these will serve your needs, they are listed according to quality of location. They vary in price and amenities but all are quality hotels.
The link below provides best pricing. The second link is a map showing where the hotels are locarted.
Good Luck!

Check out my online tour of the Las Vegas strip http://www.urbanphotos.net/las_vegas_strip.htm
I’ve visited Las Vegas 18 times since 1992 and in my opinion Bally’s and Luxor are the best budget priced properties on the strip. I’ve stayed at both places.
Except for Tropicana, Imperial Palace and Excalibur; every other property between Mandalay Bay and Wynn/Encore is good or better.
I think Mandalay Bay offers the best value for the price on the strip.

I would recommend Bally’s Hotel and Casino! Very nice rate at the end of Ocotober there.
