How do outdated ladies in Las Vegas afford to sit at the slot machines chain smoking all day?
Are senior ladies just much better at slots or a thing? Do they even in fact play the slots, or do they just sit there pretending to play? Is it the senior discount? I do not thoughts them there due to the fact I appreciate listening to their stories about why I really should by no means get married a lot more than after, but how do they handle to help this lifestyle in the initial spot???

There are some casinos that are well-liked with the local retired communities in and around Las Vegas, Gold Coast Casino is 1 of them, cheap buffet, low-cost keep to get snacks are but two of the draws for the retired. They perform until they run out of income and then come back the first of the month. And anything that they win will be played back in these machines. Some might have liquidated most of their assets this kind of as higher-value real estate in California to move to the place and get lower rent and be able to perform the slots.

It’s not just confined to older ladies, the young ones do it too, even couples who are working will get hooked on slots, blackjack or bingo parlors. The older ones may have their homes paid for, be getting retirement, life insurance annuities or whatever and have no relatives near by to visit. Something to fill their day and they are not sitting at home alone either. They may have simple needs and not hang out in the malls, travel or have their homes filled with expensive electronics like others.

When I lived in Vegas after being married less than a year, I observed the first time I played during
daylight hours. I saw women of young and old, playing the nickel machines. Some with curlers in
their hair. And in days, you didn’t go out with curlers in public. My guess, was they were using part
of their grocery allowance to win over and above what they started with. How hard it would be to
loose that grocery allowance totally, as I’m sure many did.
I don’t know about listening to stories, as I never saw anyone wanting to talk much. Their interest
was intent on their machines and the crank they pulled. I only had a small amount to start with. And
when it was gone, so ended my ‘night out’, with my young husband. Perhaps these older women,
want more out of their lives socially, and are able to find it in a casino. Better there, than an old
folks home, I’d suspect. The atmosphere would be far more appealing, I’d grant them.
As far as chain smoking, I’m surprised the cigarettes didn’t burn up in the ash tray. I remember,
mine did, as I had no hands to spare. Or I didn’t feel I did.
We found the cost of living in Las Vegas, too high for us to remain. My husband had a low paying
job at a gas station in the evening and we had to live with my inlaws to squeak by. So we moved
after three months to Phoenix. So ended our stay in the most lit up city I think there is in the
nation.

They married well- perhaps more than once – outlived their husbands, or have and/or saved their own money – or maybe [and most ideally] are just darned lucky … go elder chicks!!!

It is absolutly none of your business unless they make it so. You may be one of those old ladies some day.

They probably worked their butts off their entire lives, and now feel entitled to spend their money however they want. If that’s what they want to do… Good for Them.

They got money in the bank, a good tax refund, a love for excitement, and the chance to win a few dollars makes it all worthwhile.
The best thing —–is no smoking or only smoking in certain places.

Dear, it is called “retirement”, “children out of the house” and “fun.” You set aside a certain amount of money for each day and parlay your winnings. Less than $ 100 can go far on a penny or nickel or quarter machine.. Then there are comps that casinos give to frequent players with their players card. Comps like, free play, money, meals, gift shop items, mystery players, admissions to shows, and more. Free items such as leather coats, diamond jewelry, Mp3 players, lap tops, TVs and many other items. The free buffet is a good lunch date with friends. It gives grand parents something to do and everyone knows where they are – safe and out of trouble.

They’re not all just on Social Security, you know. Lots of old ladies have very good retirements. Some are downright wealthy!

The only time I was in Vegas was 32 years ago. As long as we pumped pennies into those slot machines the drinks and cigarettes were free and brought to us by a casino worker with very little clothes on. It didn’t cost us much at all. Maybe that’s all changed.

Not a problem !
I heard that if you spend enough money, the casinos usually “comp” drinks, cigs, and a meal.
But I wouldn’t know, because I don’t smoke, and I’m too cheap to gamble my dough away.

Well there, Champ, you do know that gambling is in more States than Nevada, now a days. What do you think Casinos are? These Casinos are all across this nation and yes there are “little ol’ Ladies” sitting in there justa jerking that one arm bandits arm. Well, today they have buttons to push and not arms to pull but you get the idea. Besides there are “little ol’ Men” sitting right there alongside of those “little ol’ Ladies” just hitting that button as fast as they can for hours on end.
Why, here at the Retirement RV Park they have organized excursions with meals, shows, and lots of gambling taking residents to the Casinos. They must be getting bigger Social Security Check than I get cause I can’t even pay my bills with mine. Maybe I’ll have to start giving lessons in shoot 8 Ball @ $ 50/game, eh? Anyway, the park is deserted on the days of these excursions. Oh, I’ve been to one Casino in my lifetime, but I have talked to many others who go regularly.
