If I want to take a vaca to Vegas is it cheaper to do it on like a Travelocity website or is it cheaper to do it on a website that has hotel packages with a book of coupons. Also is it just worth it to pay maybe $25 more and just get the entire vacation(plane, hotel, car)? Thanks for the help!

It can go either way. Here is a website that shows how to compare prices different ways.

Dont pay for a hotel package. Check directly with the hotel and/or the airline for package deals. Airlines like Southwest, Alaska, America West, etc.

I have always had the best luck booking separately. Usually the travel websites with package deals cannot offer you the discounted hotel rates that the hotels offer. A standard rate is included instead, which can be $50 or more higher per night than the hotels promotion codes.
For airfare, I look to Southwest and Airtran. I don’t like the idea of being charged for your first checked bag, and Southwest is the only airline that doesn’t charge for your first or second checked bag. Airtran charges $15 for your first checked bag, but they usually have some great discount codes out that can be found on ebay. Right now there is a $35 off discount code. On ebay, they rape you, and you have to pay $20 for the coupon code, but you are still saving $15. You can buy 2 separate codes and book 2 one way flights and save $30 on your entire flight.
For hotels, there is no place better than http://smartervegas.com/ They list ALL of the promotions offered by the hotels including those in exclusive email offers. You just find a deal you like and it takes you directly to the hotel website to book.
Excalibur from $26/night
Luxor from $42/night
Mandalay Bay from $65/night
MGM Grand from $50/night
and more!
You don’t really need a rental car in Vegas unless you are planning to go outside of the strip or downtown. There is a bus service that starts at Mandalay Bay and has many stops along the strip all the way to downtown, so you can get wherever you need to go. It is only$7 for a 24 hour pass. There is also the monorail which has stations at select hotels that can also get you wherever you want to go in like 60 seconds or less (it is fast!) It is a little more expensive at $12 for a 24 hour pass. There is also a one way pass for $5. http://lvmonorail.com/

Either way works. However, if this is your first trip to Vegas, you probably won’t need to rent a car. Try to get a hotel close to the strip or the Freemont district and you’ll be able walk or catch the tram nearly everywhere.

In order to get the best price it is recommend to book air and hotel seperately. For air I would check kayak.com and for hotel rooms http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com is a great place. It has the latest Las Vegas hotel promotions listed and you can book directly with your desired hotel for the best price.
